Additive Manufacturing of Multi?Scale Porous Soft Tissue Implants That Encourage Vascularization and Tissue Ingrowth

چکیده

Medical devices, such as silicone-based prostheses designed for soft tissue implantation, often induce a suboptimal foreign-body response which results in hardened avascular fibrotic capsule around the device, leading to patient discomfort or implant failure. Here, it is proposed that additive manufacturing techniques can be used deposit durable coatings with multiscale porosity on surfaces promote optimal integration. Specifically, “liquid rope coil effect”, exploited via direct ink writing, create controlled macro open-pore architecture, including over highly curved surfaces, while adapting atomizing spray deposition of silicone microporous texture. The potential tailor degree integration and vascularization using these fabrication demonstrated through subdermal submuscular implantation studies rodent porcine models respectively, illustrating coating's applications both traditional prosthetics active drug-eluting devices.

Designing heterogeneous porous tissue scaffolds for additive manufacturing processes

A novel tissue scaffold design technique has been proposed with controllable heterogeneous architecture design suitable for additive manufacturing processes. The proposed layer-based design uses a bi-layer pattern of radial and spiral layer consecutively to generate functionally gradient porosity, which follows the geometry of the scaffold. The proposed approach constructs the medial region fro...

Modulation of wound response and soft tissue ingrowth in synthetic and allogeneic implants with platelet concentrate.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the modulation of wound healing and soft tissue ingrowth in synthetic and allogeneic implants with platelet gel. Attempts to influence wound healing with exogenous growth factors are highly dependent on the timing and dosing of treatment. Platelet gel made from autologous platelet concentrate (PC) and activated with calcium thrombin is increasingly used to enhance healing ...

Techniques for soft tissue management around the implants: a review

Dental implants, as a result of their excellent success rates and advantages over fixed or removable methods, have become the optimal treatment for replacing missing teeth. Surgical and restorative techniques that can reduce the loss of hard and soft tissues that often accompany implant placement are desirable. Achieving an esthetic outcome in tooth replacement and implant treatment requires a...
